FAQs
What is CBT?
1
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapy that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings, and behaviours. CBT focuses on identifying patterns that may be keeping difficulties going and developing practical strategies to create meaningful, lasting change.

If you are unsure whether I am the right fit, you are always welcome to get in touch to discuss your needs.
What age groups do you work with?
3
I have experience working across all age groups, from children and adolescents through to adults and older adults. Much of my career has been spent supporting children, young people, and families within CAMHS, crisis, and inpatient services.
Do you offer online sessions?
4
Yes — I offer online therapy sessions, allowing support to feel accessible, flexible, and convenient. Online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy for many difficulties.
Do you offer face-to-face sessions?
5
Face to face sessions are dependent on individual circumstances and incur extra costs
How long are sessions?
6
Most therapy sessions last approximately 50 minutes. Longer sessions may occasionally be discussed where clinically appropriate, particularly for trauma work or intensive treatment approaches.
How many sessions will i need?
7
This varies depending on your goals, difficulties, and circumstances. Some people benefit from shorter-term focused work, whilst others prefer longer-term support. We will regularly review progress together and work collaboratively to ensure therapy feels helpful and meaningful.
What happens in the first session?
8
The first session is an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin building an understanding of your experiences. It is also a chance for you to ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you.
There is no pressure to share everything immediately - therapy moves at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
What if I feel nervous about therapy?
9
Feeling nervous before starting therapy is extremely common. Many people worry about being judged, not knowing what to say, or whether therapy will help. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, and I aim to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
Are sessions confidential?
10
Yes, confidentiality is very important. Everything discussed within sessions is kept confidential unless there are concerns around safety or significant risk to yourself or others. This will always be discussed openly wherever possible.
Do you work with neurodivergent clients?
11
Yes. I work extensively with neurodivergent clients and understand the importance of adapting therapy to the individual rather than expecting individuals to fit into rigid therapeutic approaches.
I aim to create a supportive, affirming space where therapy feels accessible, realistic, and genuinely collaborative.
Do you involve parents, families, schools, or other professionals?
12
Where appropriate and helpful, yes. I strongly value a holistic and systemic approach and understand that support is often most effective when important people and environments around the individual are considered collaboratively.
What is the FLASH Technique?
13
The FLASH Technique is a gentle, evidence-informed approach used within trauma work to help reduce distress linked to traumatic memories. Many clients find it less emotionally overwhelming than traditional trauma processing approaches.
I use FLASH alongside trauma-informed CBT approaches where clinically appropriate.
Do I need a diagnosis to access therapy?
14
No, you do not need a formal diagnosis to access support. Many people seek therapy because they are struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed, or noticing patterns they would like help understanding and changing.
What is your therapeutic style?
15
My approach is warm, honest, compassionate, and evidence-based. I believe therapy works best when people feel emotionally safe, understood, and genuinely connected within the therapeutic relationship.
I also believe in being realistic and transparent - therapy is not about quick fixes or unrealistic promises, but meaningful, sustainable change.
