Neurodivergence

Working With Neurodivergence — Not Against It

I work extensively with neurodivergent clients and strongly believe therapy should adapt to the individual rather than expecting individuals to fit into rigid therapeutic models.

Many neurodivergent people have spent years feeling misunderstood, masking their difficulties, or feeling “too much” within traditional systems. My approach is affirming, flexible, collaborative, and grounded in understanding your unique experiences, strengths, and challenges.

Therapy may include adapting communication styles, expectations, sensory considerations, structure, emotional regulation strategies, and pacing to ensure support feels accessible and realistic.

Realistic Expectations

I believe honesty is essential within therapy. I will never promise unrealistic outcomes or pressure clients into recovery goals that do not feel achievable or sustainable.

For neurodivergent individuals particularly, therapy is not about “fixing” who you are, it is about understanding yourself better, reducing distress, building confidence, improving coping strategies, and creating a life that feels more manageable and meaningful for you.
